Thallus pale or grey, sparse to absent, usually of scattered granules or largely immersed in the bark, occasionally minutely rimose. Photobiont chlorococcoid. Anamorph: not known. Teleomorph: ascomata apothecia, 200-400 (-500) µm diam., convex, appressed, ± scattered, white to pale yellow or pink-brown, translucent when wet. Thalline exciple absent, true exciple poorly developed. Epithecium indistinct, hyaline, not granular. Hymenium (50-) 65-70 μm tall, hyaline. Hypothecium 35-65 μm tall, hyaline, composed of interwoven yellowish hyphae. Interascal tissue of paraphyses 1-1.5 μm diam., in a gel matrix, rarely branched, ± flexuose. Asci 50-55 × 20-22 μm, clavate to saccate, rather short-stalked, the wall many-layered, apical dome K/I+ blue, inner cap K/I+ intense blue, outer wall less intensive blue, 100(-150)-spored. Ascospores 4-4.5 (-5) μm diam., spherical, aseptate, hyaline, quite thick-walled, smooth, without an epispore or gelatinous sheath. Chemistry: lichen substances not detected by TLC.
