Anamorph: not known. Teleomorph: ascomata arthonioid apothecia, 120-300 µm diam. and 40-70 µm high, forming singly, rather irregular in outline, usually cushion-shaped, black, not gall-forming. Exciple 10-15 µm thick at the edges, grading into a granular to amorphous epithecial layer above, dark brown to black, composed of globose cells 3-5 µm diam. Hymenium 35-45 µm thick, ± hyaline. Hypothecium brown, well-developed, 10-15 µm thick. Interascal tissue of paraphyses 1.5-2 µm diam., extensively branched above, the apices contorted, brown-walled and immersed in a gelatinous epithecium. Asci 25-34 x 10-14 µm, broadly clavate, 8-spored. Ascospores 10-12.5 x 3.5-4.5 µm, cylindric-clavate, 1-septate, strongly constricted at the septa, the apex and base rounded, hyaline, fairly thin-walled, smooth, with an inconspicuous gelatinous sheath.
